How the release harness works

A short course on the Tutors release harness: the theory behind it, the design of its containers, the philosophy of A/A and A/B testing, the approach it takes from scripted traffic to a verdict, and the A3 that explains every night whether main is ready to become a release.

Read tonight’s A3

In this lab you open the harness’s live A3 and read it from top to bottom, the way a release Captain or Reviewer would before deciding whether main is ready to become a release candidate.

Open the A3 in another tab:

It is rebuilt every night after the nightly A/A and Main to RC, so what you see is today’s reading. Keep these questions in mind as you go:

  1. What is being compared, and when?
  2. Did the Gate pass, and did the harness have the right to fail?
  3. How much of the gap is explained, and by what?
  4. What, if anything, needs a person to look?
